Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of BookRecap, operated by Multiverse Forge (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Service Description
BookRecap is an AI-assisted reading tool that generates spoiler-free recaps of books and book series, based on a stopping point you specify. The Service also provides reading tracking features including session logging, reading speed analytics, and to-be-read time predictions.
BookRecap is provided by Multiverse Forge, a freelance activity operated from Germany. The Service is accessible via bookrecap.multiverseforge.org.
2. Free Tier Limitations
BookRecap offers a free tier with the following limitations:
- 3 AI-generated recaps per calendar month
- Basic reading tracker (session logging)
- No analytics dashboard or reading speed insights
- No TBR predictions or priority processing
We reserve the right to modify free tier limits with reasonable notice. Paid tiers are described on the pricing page and governed by the relevant subscription terms at the time of purchase.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use BookRecap only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits or access restrictions
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract data from the Service
- Use the Service to generate or distribute harmful, illegal, or infringing content
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation
- Interfere with the security or integrity of the Service or its infrastructure
4. Intellectual Property
4.1 Your Content
Any reading data, book titles, stopping points, or other content you submit to BookRecap remains your property. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process this content solely to provide the Service to you. We do not claim ownership of your content.
4.2 Our Content
The BookRecap platform, including its design, code, branding, and generated recap outputs, is owned by Multiverse Forge and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce or redistribute any part of the Service without our written consent.
4.3 Third-Party Books
BookRecap generates recaps based on publicly available knowledge of published works. We do not reproduce copyrighted text verbatim. All book titles, character names, and story elements referenced belong to their respective authors and publishers.
5. No Professional Advice
BookRecap is an entertainment and reading utility tool. It does not provide medical, legal, financial, psychological, or any other form of professional advice. AI-generated recaps are informational summaries based on published works and may contain inaccuracies.
Recaps are generated by an AI system and may occasionally misrepresent, omit, or confuse plot details. Do not rely on BookRecap recaps for academic, professional, or other critical purposes. Always refer to the original work for authoritative content.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Multiverse Forge and its operators shall not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service
- Loss of data, reading history, or saved content
- Inaccurate, incomplete, or spoiler-containing AI-generated recaps
- Service interruptions, downtime, or data loss
Our total liability in connection with the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or EUR 50, whichever is greater. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
7. Service Availability
We strive to keep BookRecap available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend or discontinue the Service, or any part of it, with reasonable notice where possible. We are not liable for any losses arising from service interruptions beyond our reasonable control.
8. Termination
You may stop using BookRecap at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections relating to intellectual property, limitation of liability, and governing law survive termination.
9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Germany. Disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Germany, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection laws applicable in your country of residence within the EU.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email (for registered users) or a prominent notice on the site. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
